Heat Trust – Campaigning for change

Client: Heat Trust, an independent, non-profit consumer champion for heat networks.

Objectives: To ensure that Heat Trust proactively engaged with members on proposed changes to regulation and the collective need to drive up industry standards.

What we did: As the heat network market came under scrutiny, we focused on supporting Heat Trust on crisis communications and providing media training. We then worked with Heat Trust to support families living in more than 500,000 homes on heat networks who were facing spiralling bills during the energy crisis but were locked out of government support schemes due to the slow shift towards regulation.

Results: Our campaign not only led to a direct change in government policy, with new financial support for heat network customers announced by the Prime Minister, but also fostered a spirit of collaboration between Heat Trust and other industry bodies such as the National Housing Federation.
